So that may swing my opinion afterwards.Looking for a way to Download Dirac Live for Windows 10/8/7 PC? You are in the correct place then. It sounds better to me (the THX Mode) than the plain Neural-X but I have not done the Harmon Curves yet since I used the App, nor have I done the big calibration with the better microphone and laptop. I was able to get thru the DIRAC with the Onkyo App after like 5 trys, going to do the full laptop setup today with the UMIK1 and toss the Harmon curves in slot 1 and 2.Īs for DIRAC not working with Neural-X its the one listed as DTS Neural-X THX Music (and I would assume the same for any THX mode) as THX seems to disable it and do something different. So far its still working.Ĭlick to expand.I have an open living room as well (open to kitchen on one wall, open to the hallway on another) I had a terrible null with even 2 subs, took 3 to get it fixed lol (and with 3 I had HUGE room gains in the lower frequency took 13db of cut to flatten it out) I also have a sub right next to the couch, that was the magic placement that fixed my null but I also think thats the sub that loves to hurt calibration being so close to the microphone. I left the Onkyo app puck mic filter in Slot 3. I gave the receiver a static IP and only loaded filters from the PC into Slot 1 and 2. I did a few things different there as w ell. I have until Jan 31 to return it but it really looks like it will be a keeper.Īnd, even after loading filters, I can still access the web portal. We will see if it drops from the network anymore. I did a few things different there as well. Not sure if it was new location, adding the new furniture, removing the wireless transmitter or a combo of it all, but it's great now.Īnd, even after loading filters, I can still access the web portal. I've been impressed by Dirac with the other 9 speakers the whole time but now the sub really rounded into form as well. I ran a 13 point, applied 6db Harman curve and loaded it. My room isn't ideal so I was pretty happy with that orange line. Pretty interesting that above 20hz, those results are very similar. Here's the comparison, in my room, between the two different calibration options. I didn't apply any curve, just left the default. One thing to note here is to get the sub within 5db of other speakers in the level matching screen I have to set the gain at 2o'clock. I then fired up Dirac on PC with Umik and ran a quick 1 point there. The Onkyo app calibration set my sub trim in the AVR at -.5. Went back to 10o'clock and ran just fine. I actually tried again today setting the gain at 11oclock and sure enough, high volume error. I knew from a previous run that I had to set the gain knob of the sub at 10o'clock with the puck mic. I started by clearing out all filters and decided I wanted to compare if there was much difference between running Dirac with the Onkyo app and puck mic vs Dirac on PC and Umik. Just interesting note with the low sub issue in Dirac on this receiver. I've been using that transmitter for years with no obvious issues. I will note here that during previous Dirac runs with the wireless transmitter, the sub level was over 10db lower than the other speakers during level matching but by removing it I was able to get to only 5db below the other speakers. I moved the sub across the room to the front left corner (previously had it right behind my seating) where I was able to go back to hard wired instead of using a wireless transmitter. I spend a couple hours today with it and am now extremely pleased. So, with a lot more soft surface in the room and my sub no longer fitting near field, a new Dirac calibration was in order. My fiancé not so secretly wanted a more conventional living room. We previously had a 4 seat reclining theater chair type setup. Well yesterday my future mother in law gave us a very nice (and expensive) leather sectional after buying herself a new one. It seems to be measuring correctly just annoying that I can't get the sub to match the other speakers during level matching in Dirac. The low volume issue with the subwoofer when doing Dirac on PC. I hadn't needed to reboot my router or anything in months before this new receiverģ. The Onkyo keeps losing wifi network connectivity every couple days requiring either a router reboot or doing the wifi setup all over again. Not being able to access the web portal with ciuser after loading a Dirac filter from PCĢ. Up until today it's been real iffy if it was a keeper.
